Who I am
Finlay’s Plumbing is a sole-trader plumbing business operated by Vince Finlay, based in Northampton, UK. Contact: info@finlaysplumbing.co.uk or 07950 782897.
What data I collect
I only collect data you actively give me — when you fill the booking form, send me a WhatsApp, email me, or call. That includes: your name, phone number, email, postcode, and a description of the plumbing issue. I don’t use third-party tracking that identifies you personally (Google Analytics is anonymised; Microsoft Clarity is opt-in via cookie banner).
How I use it
Solely to respond to your enquiry, do the work, and send you a receipt. Specifically:
- Reply to your booking / quote request
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Issue receipts, invoices and workmanship records
- Stay in touch about repeat work + Care Plan renewals
- Comply with my legal obligations (tax records, regulator notifications)
Who I share it with
Nobody, with two small exceptions:
- HMRC, for tax records (legally required, only basic invoice data)
- My email + WhatsApp providers (they process the data to deliver messages)
I don’t sell, rent, or trade your information. Ever.
How long I keep it
Active customer records: 7 years (HMRC requirement). Enquiry data that doesn’t convert to a job: 12 months. After that, it’s deleted. CP12 certificates: 2 years (statutory requirement).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can: ask me what data I hold on you, ask me to delete it (subject to HMRC retention requirements), ask me to correct it, or opt out of marketing entirely. Email me at info@finlaysplumbing.co.uk and I’ll act within 28 days.
Complaints
If you think I’ve mishandled your data, talk to me first. If that doesn’t resolve it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
