The terms,
in plain English.

These terms apply when you book Finlay’s Plumbing (sole trader: Vince Finlay, Northampton) for plumbing work. They sit alongside any specific written quote I give you — the quote takes precedence on the specifics of price, scope and timing.

Quotes + pricing

Every quote I give you is fixed-price unless explicitly noted as ‘estimate’. If a job turns out bigger than I quoted (genuine hidden damage, etc.), that’s on me unless we agree extra work in writing first. The £85 diagnostic call-out is credited to the job if you book me to do the work.

Same-day or call-out free

Booked by 9am, in your home by 1pm. Booked by 12pm, before close of business. If I miss that window without telling you first, the £85 call-out is free of charge. Exclusions: if I have to wait on access (you not home, key not available), the call-out still applies.

First-visit fix guarantee

If I diagnose a fault and leave without it fixed (excluding cases where parts need to be ordered and you agree in writing to a follow-up visit), I’ll come back free of charge AND credit £50 to your account. This applies only to the original fault, not new issues that arise after the visit.

Workmanship guarantee

12 months from completion date on labour. If something I installed or repaired fails on my watch within 12 months, I’ll come back and fix it free. This is separate from manufacturer warranties on parts (I’ll register them on your behalf and support any warranty claim).

Cancellation

You can cancel a booking up to 24 hours before the agreed time with no charge. Within 24 hours, the £85 call-out fee applies if I’ve already set out. Emergencies are treated case-by-case.

Care plans

Care Plans are billed monthly in advance. You can cancel any time with one month’s notice. No tie-in. Free callouts under Care Plans cover labour only; parts are charged separately at cost. Annual plumbing audit is included on all tiers.

Insurance + safety

I’m WaterSafe approved + G3 Unvented certified, with £2m public liability insurance. Certificates available on request before any work starts.

Disputes

If you’re unhappy, talk to me first — most issues resolve directly. If we can’t agree, I’ll point you to the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering’s dispute resolution service.
